LoveToKnow (LTK): Please describe the methods you use for threading.
Pareen Merchant (PM): The art of threading originated in the Middle East and South Asia. We use special thread, which is twisted and pulled along the area of unwanted hair. The thread acts like a mini-lasso and lifts the hair follicle directly from the root. The process is very quick and it gives you control to either pick individual hair or a bunch of hair depending on the area. One needs to stretch the skin in that area so the hair can be removed easily.
LTK: Why is threading better than waxing or plucking?
PM: It is found by many to be much less painful than waxing. Since threading only targets the individual hairs, skin irritation is kept to a minimum, unlike waxing, which often causes unnecessary stretching and exfoliation of the skin's delicate top layers. Threading is also very precise and allows me to have greater control than waxing, resulting in a better brow shape for you. Threading is 100 percent natural, and even those short stubbly hairs can be removed.
LTK: Are there any negative side effects to threading?
PM: There are no side effects of threading.
LTK: Can threading work for anyone?
PM: Yes, anybody can try threading including men, women, teenagers, and mature clients.
LTK: What unwanted hair can be removed by threading?
PM: Full face: eyes, upper lip, chin, forehead, and cheeks. You can remove hair from any body part as long as the hair is not very long.
LTK: What are the benefits of threading compared to other hair removal methods?
With threading you get perfect shape, quickly and easily, with no or minimal redness. The best part is growth is very slow and soft.
LTK: What should an interested client look for to find an experienced "threader"?
PM: A client needs to find out how long the threader has been practicing threading and make sure they don't pinch the skin. It is also important for them to be very good in shaping the brows, not just removing the hair.
